The Disability of Ego

ego

The disability of ego

Sincere hearts kept at arm’s length

Walls built

Who is right and who is wrong

Protective bricks to appear strong

Is compassion and open nature for the weakest of souls

Or is our ego filling spaces needed to grow

In anger and silence we polish our pride

Suffocating connection in an effort to hide

The disability of ego will always try to win

An open heart, my chosen kin

Unfortunate Ways

door

Spirit

The seat of emotions and character; the soul

Did you hear it speak to you once

Delivered through my eyes, breathing love in to your own

Were you aware the extension was scary, did you know my heart trembled in fear

Vulnerability, not something I was fed from birth

Shame and anger more often near

Did you notice when I was brave and took a path I did not know

Was my warmth and sincerity felt

My thoughts and feelings; special should always be respected in truth and care

Did it make you feel as though you’d never stand alone

I walk away gently and with clarity as I close the door

The only sadness I carry with me is the cost I had to pay

I seemingly have lost my spirit

In the most unfortunate way

Pass The Salt

salt

Poetic confetti tossed with brazen flare

Words pouring with the clarity of a smooth, Russian vodka

Ignore the bite, something so fine can do no harm

Watch my eyes

They will tell you everything you do not hear

Listen to my words

You will see nothing at all

Touch my lips

I share them with many

Reach for my heart so you can feel me pull yours out

Sorry…you left your light on and I tripped on your soul

I was looking for mine while lost in my dark

I thought you were special

My shiny new thing

Pass the salt
