Laying in her bed
Rising from her lioness slumber
She stretches her long body with a relaxed caution
Sounds of today dancing through the window
The delicate scent of a fresh spring morning penetrating her soul, deeply inhaling her new day
Song birds reminding her of opportunity and innocence
Yesterday washed away
Quiet in her heart
Crisp white cotton sheets adorn her perfectly reckless body
Speaking no words she looks over to me
Behind her thoughtful gaze
A lifetime of stories that wrap around me with curiosity
Sitting with locked eyes
No space between us
I sit in this moment as it rushes though my being
I look in her eyes and know my heart has spoken
Laying in her bed
~Alisa Hutton
I love these lines:
Behind her thoughtful gaze
A lifetime of stories that wrap around me with curiosity
Sitting with locked eyes

Thank you, eyes are a curious thing to me. I am always struck with the stories that seem to dwell in them. The unspoken.

Alisa, one of the things that is so great about your poems is the consistent beauty of Your words and the inventive and descriptive way you take us through Your work! This is no exception.
You always seem to hook us into the cinematic presentation of the surroundings and characters (crisp white cotton sheets adorn her perfectly reckless body), the textures, the smells (the delicate scent of a fresh spring morning) and the sounds (the sounds of today dancing through the window)
Starting her descent into her hallmark ending with “Speaking no words she looks over to me” and then “I look in her eyes and know my heart has spoken laying in her bed”.
Yet, another stunning poem with a focus on “Her Eyes”. I think we share a love of eyes!! A beautiful and emotional narrative between two souls locked in a look!

We are the lucky ones who get to savor Your delicious lines!! Ha! You mean my ramblings? Your words speak a language my heart understands! And they move me!
Yes, I got to thinking about this after I posted the comment above and was wondering how and when I got hooked on women’s eyes?? Well, they do say the eyes are the windows to the Soul, but we won’t delve into that one. I like the one: Eye contact – is how Souls catch on Fire! There is just something about a woman’s gaze that is mesmerizing!
I finally remembered when it first started when I saw a captivating photo last night on a show of a woman in a “Burka” (I think that was what it was) with just her eyes looking out with that gaze! That’s when I remembered when it all started. It was the National Geographic’s most famous cover photo of an Afgani girl with that mesmerizing gaze. I will try and post it here. You can google “National Geographic Afgani girl and it pops up. Hey, maybe some inspiration for You! This was a fabulous read!!!

I know exactly the picture and article you are talking about:) Eyes are very captivating though, they really do tell so much. I think if you are someone who is curious about the deeper levels of people/life you tend to see a lot in my eyes. My poetic two bits lol.
