A poet’s capture
Such good fortune bestowed upon me
Absorbing her story in perfect sway
Graciously spoken through her deepened eyes
Subtleties tapping on your soul with an almost contagious delight
So curious to me in the most poetic ways
To watch her spirit bounce with life and flutter in stride
I wished for just a moment I could have gently held it in my hands for her to see
The magic and light she naturally shared with me
The ripples of laughter that she couldn’t keep in
How it made her eyes dance and all around her seemingly spin
I wonder if she knows how brightly the stars shine by her side
Or that the moon and her glow in even pride
A true gift
A poet’s capture, my simple write
A fortunate evening
With a genuine light

Alisa, I love the sincerity and purity of these lines:
“I wished for just a moment I could have gently held it in my hands for her to see
The magic and light she naturally shared with me”
I am holding my hands open for you to see what you share for me.

Thank you, Keith:) Funny as the poem was actually built from just one moment I had shared with someone who had such a great, contagious laugh. I noted it at the time and thought wouldn’t it be great for people to be able to feel what they give to others in those moments. The lines you like were really the start point/thought of the whole poem:)

Alisa, thanks for sharing that inspiration. I often say you don’t realize how much your parents love you, until you have a child. We need to share those connections. All the best, Keith
